About Me

Providing therapy tailored to your needs.

I specialize in the treatment of Anxiety Disorders for both adolescents and adults. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (commonly referred to as CBT) to treat the source of anxiety and to address anxiety-related symptoms. CBT refers to a broad range of techniques. I employ Exposure Response Prevention for treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I incorporate Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and other scientifically researched-based therapies tailored to my clients’ needs when necessary. These treatment modalities, as they relate to your specific needs, will be discussed during our initial phone consultation as well as in our first session.

Education:

MSSW, University of Wisconsin-Madison

BSSW, University of Wisconsin-Madison

State of Wisconsin Licensure:
Licensed Clinical Social Worker

I have worked with children and adolescents for 20 years and form relationships with my clients that foster growth and change. I am able to put clients at ease while also helping them to understand and navigate their troublesome situation. When working with children and adolescents, I provide consultation for parents/guardians and encourage them to play an active role in the therapeutic process. Often the family plays a large role in the success of therapy. Parents/guardians also need support to assist their child in the implementation of strategies and to improve the parent-child relationship. When a member of the family struggles with anxiety and/or other disorders, most often the family would like support with how to work together to improve their home life and family dynamics.

In addition to providing therapy in my private practice, I have worked in the public education system for 20 years. I am uniquely familiar with how difficult it can be in the academic setting for children, adolescents, and young adults in general and especially for those dealing with mental health conditions. With appropriate consent, I would be glad to consult with school staff in order to develop a plan that will support the client’s efforts to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. I also work well with adults as they navigate life in the work and social setting, helping them learn strategies to live more peacefully.
